Receptionist Relief

Words of encouragement to get through the day as a receptionist: Sometimes we get up in the morning under the impression that it will be a good day and all we have to do is put on our “Susan” for 8-9 hours to get through. However there are those days you wake up, not well rested, no breakfast running late and heel breaks on your favorite shoe and you forget your cash to enjoy lunch with…UGH! What a start! Then you arrive to your cubicle and you fall back in your chair and before you can even sigh a good sigh of relief you are invaded with request and orders coming at you left and right. You take it all in trying to throw out your personal door of emotion and begin your workload based on level of importance. As the day progresses the sigh of relief you were aspired to take at 9am that morning has been waiting to exhale since your lunch hour…low and behold to you the day has been filled and gone before you realized you haven’t taken care of you yet. Oh how I seen so many of these days. Let’s begin by stating the facts: • You are appreciated • You are a valuable asset to the company • Without you the daily operation of business flow cannot flow easily • The more of a no problem attitude you display the more thought will be put in to your next encounter with that co-worker who never says hello, excuse me or can you….. • Be positive and smile it will make the day go faster • Always, Always no matter what remember nothing business related should be taken personal or home In conclusion, I am in your shoes I do the things not documented in my job description, I do errands, and I look for people I take personal mail, messages and whatever else is asked. I file scan and copy even though they have been here longer and know how to get it done but just choose to be lazy and dependent on me. Believe me I know stick it out hang in there.
